Waterways Recreation is a youth-focused, Indigenous-led non-profit organization who partners with Indigenous communities, agencies, and partners to deliver canoe programs, which promote wellness and culturally relevant recreation to Indigenous youth across Manitoba.

Community Outreach Lead Job Description
We are looking to hire a Community Outreach Lead for our program in Bloodvein First Nation. The Community Outreach Lead will develop and run canoe programming. This program will require staying in the community of Bloodvein for extended periods of time. The program will run from June 1st to September 31 with the possibility of being extended to start May 1st and end October 31st. The lead will be responsible for community consultations in regards to programming as well as keeping detailed program data.
Community Outreach Lead Responsibilities:
Ensure safety of all participants.
Develop, plan and execute canoe and other outdoor programming.
Record detailed program data.
Maintain equipment.
Facilitate community consultations including elders, band offices and other community partners.
Development, establishment and co-ordination of local volunteer network for assistance with program delivery days.
Support social media lead with photos/stories/activities for use in newsletters, social media platforms, and reporting.
Working within a provided budget for coordination of program delivery between program participants, community partners, volunteers, and other applicable parties.
Community Outreach Lead Requirements:
Experience working with Indigenous youth, specifically in outdoor environments is desired.
Previous canoeing experience and access to a vehicle.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Self driven individual
Successful applicants subject to clean vulnerable sector and child abuse registry check.
Must complete Waterways training.
