Waterways Recreation is a youth-focused, Indigenous-led non-profit organization who partners with Indigenous communities, agencies, and partners to deliver canoe programs, which promote wellness and culturally relevant recreation to Indigenous youth across Manitoba.

Cross Lake Program Leader Job Description
The Cross Lake Program Leader will develop and run canoe programming with a focus on holistic wellbeing and cultural relevance for participants in Pimicikamak Cree Nation. Applicants must already live in the community or have access to housing in the community.
Program Leader will also be responsible to record participant data, and submit it to the Waterways Systems Administrator on a regular basis. There will also be opportunities to facilitate community consultation regarding programs.
Cross Lake Program Leader Responsibilities:
Ensure safety of all participants.
Develop, plan and execute canoe and other outdoor programming.
Record detailed program data.
Maintain equipment.
Facilitate community consultations including elders, band offices and other community partners.
Development, establishment and coordination of local volunteer network for assistance with program delivery days.
Support Communications Coordinator with photos/stories/activities for use in newsletters, social media platforms, and reporting.
Create and maintain float plans and emergency response plans for all programs
Working within a provided budget for coordination of program delivery between program participants, community partners, volunteers, and other applicable parties.
Cross Lake Program Leader Requirements:
Must live in or have access to housing in Cross Lake
Experience working with youth, specifically in outdoor environments is desired
Previous canoeing experience and access to a vehicle is an asset but not required
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Successful applicants subject to clear vulnerable sector and child abuse registry check
Must complete Waterways training
